Pros

Benefits, employee resource groups, and professional development resources

Cons

No diversity in managerial ranks (aside from women), burecratic management style, slow-moving wheel for change, no stability (re-orgs every 3-4 months is common), the company has lost its focus from the heyday if the Big Three: Mcinerney, Murphy, and Smith. ING is like the Manning-less Indianapolis Colts---winless!

Pros

From a corporate employee perspective ING FP is not afraid to invest in your professional growth. If you keep pushing to improve and increase your value, they will recognize it when opportunities open. From a field sales perspective, you have an organization with a highly ingrained culture toward allowing a rep to manage a very independent practice.

Cons

Small critique that may not have a great solution: Because the culture is independent and empowering, you run the risk of individuals, both internally and in the field, making snap decisions without seeking appropriate feedback from their colleagues.

Pros

Dutch work culture is very good. Direct communication, not much bureaucracy compared to other organizations. Secondary benefits such big discount and mortgage and educational facilities are some of best in the Netherlands. Despite the whole splitting of and selling parts of business the atmosphere is good. In these troubling times it feels like a very solid and capable institution with smart and dedicated people on pretty much all levels. Quite happy working here.

Cons

The biggest con is the salary...it is absolutely ridiculous. The whole pay scale system is very rigid. Even if you do a good job the advancement is minimal in real dollar terms. It pays to job hob and negotiate, because once within the system you can't really move salary wise. I think the bank will lose talented people to companies/countries with higher compensation.
