I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (Londra, Inghilterra) in Jun 2022
Interview
I am happy to say my interview experience with Octopus Energy is a positive one.
Conor Class was my recruiter; he goes the extra mile to ensure your skills and expertise is matched to the right role. He was kind enough to give me a call explaining how I would be a better fit in a different department and forwarding my application instead of rejecting me.
The recruitment process is split across a few stages:
- Initial phone call
- First video interview
- Tech Challenge
- Second video interview
- Final chat discussing salary etc.
The interviewers were really friendly and keen to understand more about me as a person, the skills I have and the reason I want to join Octopus Energy.
The first video interview is an informal one where you get to know the company goal, structure, culture etc. and they get to know you. The second video interview was a technical one based on the solution to the tech challenge. The full recruitment process took a bit over one month.

What would you improve or do differently if you had more time?
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (Melbourne)
Interview
long interview process, some of them are relevant to the job description such as offline technical challenge and talking to developers/lead developer about the solutions and access my technical skills as long as personality to see if it is the right fit.
Three telephone interviews, the last one being more technical preceded by a coding test in Django. I liked how the process and feedback were so quick between each stage and the interviews were very open ended.
