We at Massage Envy Franchising are disappointed that you did not have a positive experience as an employee in a Massage Envy franchised location. Locations are independently owned and operated, so the employment experience varies from one franchised location to another. We'll share this feedback with the regional leadership for your area. If you'd like to share any additional details with us via email to meemployeebrand@massageenvy.com, we'll gladly pass them along as well.

Pros

You get free massages every month or a $10 facial. If you are smart enough to remember the script they give you and able to make it your own, then membership sales are not an issue. The script is a foundation to sell memberships, but it is smart of ME's part because it reduces the liability of an employee misleading or lying to a potential member. If you have a certain percentage of sales, you get a $2/hr raise.

Cons

Members never read their contract, even though they get a copy of it. When they want to cancel, it is always an issue because they forgot or didn't understand the terms. Scheduling massages for people is so difficult because the massage therapists get to make their own hours. Most of them like to work during the day, during the week. Well, this is when most of our clients are also at work. It is frustrating for both you and the client when they call for an appointment and you tell them it is like a month away. Especially because you can only have so many nonmembers at a time. This makes it hard to convince someone to sign up for a membership when they had to wait so long to get an appointment. There's also very little opportunity for advancement.

We at Massage Envy Franchising are sorry that this has been your experience as an employee in a Massage Envy franchised location. As a whole, we believe franchisees aim to deliver on the Massage Envy brand promise--we help you take care of you--to their employees and we recognize that you don't feel that promise delivered. We'll certainly share your feedback with the regional leadership for the Geneva area. If you'd like to provide some additional details to us via email to meemployeebrand@massageenvy.com, we'll be happy to pass them along.
