Pros

Literally none. Work anywehere else.

Cons

The "manager" was the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. He was extremely patronizing to the women front desk associates. Made comments about my body he shouldn't have especially because I was 16 at the time of working there. Talked about other employees to me and others. Would sit around and gossip with the front desk girls. He barely showed up. Customers would have important issues and would keep calling, I would leave a message or tell him if he was in and he would tell me to say he was not in. He would never call people back and we had to deal with the angry customers. Don't get me started on how the whole thing is a scam, transferring massages is ridiculously complicated. There weren't enough therapists and the location was small so people had to book out for months to get their monthly massage. Scheduling was a joke. He hired people for the front desk that wouldn't show up so I would have to work 9-hour shifts by myself and get no break. I would take a picture of my schedule for the next week like I was told to when hired, then I would get a call saying I was supposed to be there because the manager changed the schedule without telling me. I'm not going to check my schedule to see if it randomly changed unless I was told it changed. He scheduled me for days I requested off weeks in advance like my SAT test. Then was mad at me when I couldn't work. The owner wouldn't let us take 15 min breaks because they are paid so we had to take 30 min unpaid breaks. Overall a joke of a company. Also the manager only make 30k a year and the employees would make fun of him behind his back because of this. Never utilized my free massage because I felt so uncomfortable here I wanted to leave as soon as my shift was over.

Our commitment to creating a safe and therapeutic environment in Massage Envy franchised locations is one we take very seriously. The situation you described in the franchised location where you worked is absolutely not the way this commitment should be honored. We urge you to contact us at meemployeebrand@massageenvy.com with additional details so that the regional leadership in your area can be notified and immediate action can be taken.

Pros

Many exciting new changes over the last year with multiple new services added, much needed technology upgrades, and new revenue streams. It has been a year of explosive change and growth as related to services, policies, procedures, and technology that is anticipated to pay off.

Cons

Just be careful to investigate who the franchise owner for the clinic is before you go to work for them. Most franchisees are excellent and are very invested in their clinics, while some have zero involvement with their clinics, have NO passion for the business, and no interest in the employees or their futures. These type of owners only care about the money we are making and how fast they can spend it. It is a real shame that this amazing brand allows franchise owners like this in the system. It is a disservice to the brand! The owner of our locations has visited the clinics 3 times in 4 years for 20 minute visits. Sends a pretty clear message to the staff that the owner does not care about them and does not even care to know who they are,

On behalf of Massage Envy Franchising, thank you for sharing this feedback. Locations are independently owned and operated, so the employment experience varies from one franchised location to another. Nonetheless, as a whole we believe franchisees aim to deliver on the Massage Envy brand promise--we help you take care of you--to their employees. We'll share this feedback with the regional leadership for the Suffolk area. If you'd like to share any additional details with us via email to meemployeebrand@massageenvy.com, we'll gladly pass them along as well.
