Pros

The people that work here are nice. The background of the therapists brings a calming, holistic element to working at massage envy. It was an easy way to make an extra $150 dollars a week.

Cons

There is no growth opportunity. From the inside it seemed like the asst. Managers who were making $10 per hour did all of the work for the manager that was making more then double that. There are so many rules to follow and scripts to memorize. With everything I was expected to do (which seemed like everything!) I was not appreciated and often deceived.

Pros

fun people to work with. mellow atmosphere - not loud. booking appointments and phone calls are easy. some commission. online scheduling - easy to take time off if you need to.

Cons

no room for growth - if you are sales associate, you can only move up to a key holder. their training program is a bore, some employees never get moved to commission scale. have to meet sales quota - punishment or fired if you don't. rude customers - some take the introductory price for granted, not satisfied or want money back. (not sure if this is all over the US) but in arizona, they make you take an extra class on your own time to learn "how to sell"...waste. of. time. ugly oversized polo shirts

Pros

Very high quality equipment (motorized tables that are heated, good sheets and blankets) Easy to gain regulars Most of my tips were around $20 for a 50 min massage Computer in the break room that lets you know when you client has arrived and lays out your schedule. Loved my clients!

Cons

The owners of the one where I worked knew nothing about massage, they were rude and they pushed me to massage clients that made me uncomfortable. No one was ever promoted in the year I worked for them. Bad pay, only paid $15 per massage or if you don't book enough you only make $7.25 and I didn't go to school for massage to make minim wage! They offer NO benefits. The receptionist is pretty much your boss. I was yelled at for over 20 Min's by the owners wife because the tag on my sheet was on the wrong side and another time I was yelled at in front of clients because I walked into the building on my cell phone (I was an hour early) and I was never told that I wasn't allowed to be on my cell before I started my shift. But I will say, all Massage Envy's have different owners for the most part and most if not all of the issues I have are due to the owners of the ME, in Hillard Ohio
