Pros

Some of the best reason to work for ING Investment Management of Americas are the people. The Management team; very approachable and really care about what the employees' think. In this tough economic times, it is important for management to pay attention to morale. ING is a company that cares about employee morale and create opportunities for employees' to get involved in community service.

Cons

One of the downsides of working at ING Investment Management is the lack of communication with other ING departments.

Pros

the company is relatively stable in the financial turmoil. the experience may help secure better jobs in the future. time are flexible. lots of study times, which are almost free ptos if exam is not a problem, -- not for everyone. no need to work over time, if one chooses to. but of course that is related to the cons in ING. other personal reasons.

Cons

very opaque in promotion. hard to know who has what title. people spend great time and energy to get close to the management. all these are very disgusting. not all the people can get all the benefits of actuary study hours. and for some it's hard to pass the exam.

Pros

ING offers a very competitive salary and benefit package to mid-level managers and higher. Departments are often given autonomy to guide their business, within budget considerations. My own hours are flexible to support a good work/life balance. Performance is based on results, so people who accept responsibility for thier work, and fulfill their requirements, are rewarded. Senior management has a strong vision for the global presence of ING.

Cons

The autonomy allowed creates a disfunctional alignment between business groups and internal departments. There are few requirements in place to organize standard internal processes. However, the IT structure, which is supported by a 3rd party vendor, is highly regimented and makes changes and communications with IT providers difficult. Rounds of layoffs are being driven by the current financial declines - true of all financial service organizations. While Senior Mgmt. has strong vision, that vision is not often followed through in operations.
