Pros

Can be a pleasant environment to work in, less brutal than some other financial institutions, some departments take care of their people.

Cons

Very bureaucratic at times, particularly in some support functions which have also higher turnover as perhaps pay lower, hard to push new stuff through.

Pros

Positive atmosphere mostly. A company with vision. High expectations and a culture encouraging performance. Senior management is mostly supportive of new initiatives.

Cons

Not too many perks when compared to the software industry. The culture encourages conflicts and the staff sometimes have a hard time finding/fighting over resources to meet goals. A lot of time is dedicated by managers to polish PPT slides instead of wirking on more important matters. The banking sector will be facing an uphill battle due to all the fintech startups.
