Pros

Honestly there is nothing good I have to say about this place. I just need to fill up 20 words worth.

Cons

Be prepared for cheap clients who will tip you $1. Be prepared for 9-9 shifts and to leave with $25 in your pocket. Be prepared for franchisees to take over your life with meaningless tasks. Be prepared to wake up and dread going to work. Don't lower your value and have someone tell you they are going to charge $4.99 for your haircuts. In beauty school we charged more then that. Clients going there do not care about how well you cut they care about a cheap fast hair cut and they will tip that way. Regardless of your skill and how beautiful you may cut 99% of great clips clients will tip you $1-$2. Paid minimum wage and sucky tips. It is not worth how much you will be slaving away. Because it is always busy you will resent clients and question yourself on your career choice. You will be working your tail off for nothing and it gets old real quick.

Pros

I have insurance and a simple IRA account and I truly love the girls I work with

Cons

The irregular schedule. You will work a close shift and don't get home till 9:30 or often 10 pm and then have to open the next day at 9 ( but you have to be there at 8:30 a.m.) The schedule changes day to day AND week to week. I only know my schedule 1 week in advance (sometimes 2)--which makes it impossible to make social plans, let alone raise a family and go to school functions. We are only allowed to ask for 2 days off per month, and there if no guarantee of getting those days off if it happens to be a "black out' days. So forget family funerals unless immediate family, even if you are sick, you need to have your shift covered by another stylist, and if nobody can cover you get 2 points, 4 points and you are fired. So many stylist work when they are very sick, so they don't get fired. (if you are smart you will ask for 2 or even 3 days back to back.... so it only seems like you made 2 actual requests. My days run together and I NEVER know what day it is....Also, they want to to set up and not punch in and go the bank not punched in... so I am usually there each day for almost a half hour that I am NOT getting paid for (u need to be there 15 early to set up and another 10 min. to break down and do your chores) Then they test you bi weekly by watching you do a haircut to make sure you follow several steps that they think are important, then they embarrass you by asking the client to let them check your work... as if I forgot the skills I learned in Cosmetology school. Skills that a monkey could learn. I am paying $17,000 yes 17 thousand dollars to work in this chop shop. I just wish somebody would have told me what it was really like to be in this business. It sucks.
