Management fixated on cost cutting to the detriment of results. Tends to cut too deep on the downturn and then hire a million contractors to keep things running.

Very provincial, South African mindset , outlook and culture. Too much emphasis on relationships at the expense of performance . Big and bloated , easy to get " lost " and be just another cog in the wheel. No performance culture - many mediocre people manage to rise to senior positions by just maintaining the status quo while the most intelligent and challenging employees are perceived to be disruptive and become very frustrated. High turnover of very smart people, especially high turnover of non South Africans who struggle to adjust to the oppressive, buddy buddy, non performance culture.
