      Pros

      Plenty experience gained - due to the fact that its under staffed and focused on squeezing costs You'll also learn resilience and you'll always be promised hhe next bonus cycle is "the one"

      Cons

      Culture is toxic and unrewarding Senior management have as much leadership skills as the Unabomber and take zero responsibility for their junior's development, let alone their happiness and work satisfaction

      Pros

      Standard Bank offers stability, but at a significant cost to innovation. The culture is highly political, and navigating the internal dynamics often feels more important than doing meaningful work. Pros: Established brand with legacy systems and structure Pays on time

      Cons

      Extremely political and hierarchical environment — longevity is valued over contribution. Managers have often been in their roles for years, resistant to fresh thinking or external ideas. Change is treated with suspicion. Innovation is blocked, often by leadership that prefers to protect outdated processes and systems rather than evolve. A culture of "go slow". Quick results and problem-solving are seen as disruptive rather than valuable. Those who challenge the norm are often alienated. Zero growth unless you’re politically aligned, promotion is not based on merit but relationships. Talented employees either stagnate or leave. Overly sensitive leadership. Feedback is not always welcomed. Even polite challenge is seen as confrontation. Morale suffers, because top-down decisions ignore the expertise of those on the ground.
