Not all it’s cracked up to be

Pros

Salesforce’s products are for the most part the best in class. They are constantly innovating on the product and it usually delivers well for customers. Coworkers here are great, some of the smartest people you will come across and best in breed sales reps. You feel pride working at Salesforce. For the most part leadership is talented.

Cons

The media has an image that Salesforce is the number 1 place to work. This is not the case for sales. Many of the sales reps are unhappy with many things but stay because of how well the company performs/innovates. Base salaries are extremely low. There are very few people that are hitting their annual numbers and the overall compensation plus base is just not there. So much of it is based on territory but leaders will say to their graves that all territories are even. We would have much more appreciated it being called out vs. lying to our faces that they are all spread equally. Overall there is a lot of negativity here and much of this stems from the unhappy customers. Salesforce customers, especially in the SMB space don’t have the money to spend to implement Salesforce so their orgs are bad and adoption is extremely low. Account executives are responsible for selling - but also dealing with all unhappy customers, cancellations, technical support questions, etc. It doesn’t help that the renewals and billing teams are both outsourced to foreign counties and are extremely hard to work with (both internally and externally). You might close a huge deal but you’ll then have to deal with the repercussions of all the above.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. As you know, customer success is our top priority so it's great to see what you've mentioned about our products evolving. What you've listed in the cons is concerning however, and we do take this seriously. If you're comfortable, I'd recommend that you connect with your Employee Success Business Partner directly to discuss this openly.

Pros

Good benefits, nice work environment, most people are good there!

Cons

When you get your job eliminated and very little notice, just out the door along with 90+ other people. I understand it was a 'business decision' but they went about it ALL wrong and THEY DID NOT HELP US FIND NEW JOBS THERE DESPITE WHAT THEY TELL THE PUBLIC.

Pros

- Get to work with great people - Great benefits - Cool working environments - Lots of opportunities - Promotion of work life balance - Volunteer Time Off

Cons

- Entirely too political all around. This is not always true everywhere but in IT it's a serious issue - Remote offices do not get or are shown respect from peers in San Fran. This is a very common problem expressed by almost all remote employees and recognized as a problem - Unnecessary stress and unfair treatment of employees - Retaliation is very real and people are constantly put down for speaking up because leadership is looking out for themselves - HR shows little to no interest in resolving issues and if there is an issue with leadership don't expect anything to be done - The "Ohana" culture is not true for everyone or everywhere - Leadership puts more of a focus and accountability on extracurricular activities rather then actual work - Individuals that work hard and do good work are the ones that are punished the most - Leadership that will put themselves and their needs first and foremost I've have had several issues with dishonest leadership, retaliation, and . I have gone to ES/ HR for help with a response with someone not wanting to do their job. I provided lots of proof, examples, and documentation displaying that my leadership/ management has been completely dishonest and mis-representing events but this was a total waste of time. This just resulted in further retaliation and has been me in a far worse spot then ever. I now have management who have been justified to make up the rules as they go along. I've been outspoken of issues and my unhappiness with no results. I just have someone I report to that claims they did everything they could when in reality they did absolutely nothing. Full discloser this is not common in most orgs/ groups around the company however, this is still a serious issue throughout. It's sad and demoralizing to work in a company that does not hold leadership accountable and allows them to do whatever they want. My group is by far has more unnecessary political conflicts with business partners then any group I've come across. I've worked very hard and have a lot of support from peers, co-workers, business partners, but yet I have leadership that acts dishonestly, is completely mis-leading, and retaliates for anyone that acts honest. It's sad that I'm the third person in my position on my team that has gone through hell and that has either left or to the verge of leading the company. It's even more sad when ES/ HR does not seem to care and their response is to notify you that's perfectly expectable to do so. It's incredible sad that my experience at with this company has been overall bad. I've had terrible jobs but have never been treated this poorly at any of them. It's sad that it's at a company like Salesforce.
