Pros

Iv thought hard and long and the only thing i can think of is the experience you can gain from working across multiple projects with different clientele in different industries

Cons

All the flowery stuff you see in the job ad is misleading. From day one, you realise it’s basically clickbait. Starting with the interview — they come across really nice, but then leave you waiting three weeks for an outcome, even though you’re told you’ll hear back within a few days. Then there’s the onboarding. Communication during screening and background checks is poor and minimal. I somehow ended up receiving another new starter’s documents, and when I raised this, my concerns regarding data and privacy were ignored and I was simply told a new link would be sent. On day one, I arrived at the office and only two team members were in. Neither seemed to know who I was or that I was even starting. You’re given a laptop that feels like it’s from another era — surprising for a company that boasts about being so successful. As for the “career coach,” don’t expect much. They feel more like probation officers, just ticking boxes to say they’ve done the bare minimum. There’s little to no interest in your development. You have to constantly chase feedback, and in some cases practically beg for it — even though you’re told you need a certain amount of positive feedback to pass probation. Breaks and lunch? Don’t count on them being consistent, and don’t expect to get that time back either. Then there are the introduction sessions with senior staff during onboarding. Half the time they don’t show up, leaving you waiting around until it gets rescheduled — and even then, it’s hit or miss whether they’ll attend. Four months in, and not all introductions had taken place. To top it off, in my second week, a team meeting turned into staff openly arguing with management about being overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated — only to be told not to raise those issues in front of new starters. The sad thing is these are not isolated incidents when working collaboratively with other departments everyone has very similar experiences. I could go on, but if you have any self-respect, I’d avoid this place. You’d likely see better career progression working at McDonald’s.

Pros

- Highly collaborative environment: people genuinely support each other’s growth. Proxima also has a great "community" structure internally to also support that - Progression based on your own journey, not a competition in that sense - Strong, inclusive office culture: monthly socials, coffee chats, Tuesday breakfasts; Sports and activities that you can also get involved (e.g. touch rugby ) - Mix of Proxima and Bain-led clients, offering varied experiences - Focus on workload management (timesheets encouraged) - Good flexibility around working from home (client-dependent) - Strong development opportunities, increasing as the company grows - Training has improved significantly, including intensive but fun training abroad - Leadership actively adapting processes to support rapid growth

Cons

- Project quality is subjective, so it can be hit and miss. However, I feel this is common in any consultancy, really - Compensation is lower than some consultancies, though offset by a better work-life balance
