Positive culture threatened by cost-cutting focus
Pros
Flexible working Family first policies & benefits Positive mission statement & company goals Team relationships & collaboration
Cons
Some hypocrasy around being 'people first' with recent business changes. Management feels at the moment to be shifting from 'how can we support people' to 'how can we wring more out of our people'. Can feel the shift away from the flexibility, i.e. - office attendance becoming more enforced - unlimited holiday under scrutiny - more focus on targets, deadlines rather than understanding challenges I overheard a conversation a few weeks ago with senior staff members where 'staff churn' (i.e. the amount of people that leave or are fired) was being treated as a 'lever the business can pull' to improve cost efficiency - where 'not enough people are fired or leave'. This was said in jest, but I do feel that this attitude is permeating the business at the moment. People, benefits, support, trust and agency - essentially everything that makes OEV culture what it is - is all under threat from a cost saving focus with people as the expendable measure.
