Pros

-Access to some very large national accounts -Brand recognition can open some doors -Decent commission plan

Cons

-Regional and local office management leaves a lot to be desired... turn over is VERY high here, even when compared to other staffing firms

Pros

Trainer. Free coffee. Free hand sanitizer. Running water. Electricity.

Cons

- management - stick driven "metrics first, customer service second" environment - management + office conduct resulting in HR violations longer than Santa's naughty list - lack of consistency from the top down - absence of an empowering company culture - business model lacks sophistication - poor business development practices - poor recruiting practices - touts being "proactive" yet cultivates a highly reactive work environment - fragmented office culture created by duplicitous and combative personality types - "aggressive commission structure" pays off when the clients actually pay their bills otherwise be prepared to see a minute fraction of your commission - if you strive to earn a base that's below market value and live by short term wins and long term loses then you might be very pleased with Modis

Pros

- Great way to break into the staffing industry.

Cons

- Co-workers will do whatever it takes to get ahead of you. Ex: claiming candidates that you called and met with as their own, withholding information about job requirements given from hiring managers, getting a head start on easy to fill requirements before it has even been sent out to every recruiter. - Micro-management beyond belief (you will receive weekly and sometimes daily reports on your phone calls, resume submittals, interviews, etc.). Don't be surprised if you feel like you had a good day, but quickly be brought down by upper management stating that you need to step up your game. - Management is out of touch with their employees and do not take time to get to know them. They create a feeling that you are just another cog in the wheel that can easily be replaced. - Constant restructuring of processes at the branch level and no stable process of assigning job openings. - No work/life balance. There are daily meetings at 8:30AM you must attend, and it is often frowned upon if you leave before 5:30PM. - Don't be surprised to have other co-workers talk behind your back or be openly rude to your face. - Churn and burn.. If you are not making calls all day long to candidates who may or may not be qualified for job openings, then you will be hearing from upper management about the lack of activity. - The recruitment tools and training used and payed for by Modis are seriously lagging. - A heavy focus on contract recruitment in a hot IT industry leaves a lot to be desired for recruiters. Most good IT professionals are already in full-time roles and are not looking for contract work. While Modis has done a good job of building out their direct-hire practice, most recruiters will be stuck on the contract side, recruiting for C to D level candidates. - After tax, your commission is not that great.
