Pros

The benefits are probaby still comparable to most.

Cons

The management only looks at the numbers and does not care if you are honest or not .They only want to hear positive feedback never anything negative. There is no room for advancement unless you can PLAY THEIR GAME and become one of their favorites.

Pros

Lenscrafters provides extensive on the job training and management takes the time to mentor you. They pay for you to become ABO certified (but if you don't pass the exam, then you pay for it). They have all right benefits for a retail job, good 401k with company match, and they have a pension, which not not a lot of other companies offer. They give you a free eye exam and a free pair of glasses every year, as well as free safety glasses. You also get a 50% discount on multiple pairs and can extend the discount to your friends and family. Domestic partner benefits, also.

Cons

There is constant pressure to sell, not necessarily to the customer's needs, but in order to meet your weekly sales goal. The hourly pay is low, and you can work your butt off and sell 50 pairs of glasses one week, but unless the rest of the store makes its goal, your commissions will be very minimal. I heard (this is unconfirmed) that they will stop paying for your ABO exam ,even if you pass it. Also, it's a mall store, so you will work mall hours, which means nights and weekends, including Sundays. Cleaning the bathrooms is also something I never expected to have to do.

Pros

If you work as a lab technician, have old school coworkers that haven't been fired yet, and work with old machines, there is a great chance to learn a trade from scratch with just a high school education. If you learn quick, you can easily get your ABO and find work elsewhere where the pay is WAY higher.

Cons

Company is owned by a very greedy family. Almost all the benefits are gone. Christmas parties, store meetings, and other such things are gone. Good luck becoming full time and getting benefits. Fear of getting the pink slip is very high at the moment. I have seen 3 General Managers, 2 Retail Managers, 2 Sales Supervisors, and 4 Lab Technicians fired in less then 2 years. Management and the employees do not trust eachother, all I see is bickering everyday.
