Cons

Since I began working for LensCrafters more than 12 years ago, a lot has changed, most of which has not been beneficial. When I started as a Lab Tech, we had separate hours set aside for training hours that did not interfere with productive hours. We had 4 full time and 6 part time lab associates. I recently got a promotion to Lab Manager at a new store, but when I left my original store, we were reduced to 1 full time (lab manager) and 4 part time lab associates, and everyone is expected to be cross-trained to retail. I have more than 25 years experience in the optical field and feel I should be able to run my lab in the most efficient manner if I was allowed to stay strictly in the lab. I was hired to work in the lab, not retail, and I have no desire to work retail, but all lab associates are expected to be cross-trained on retail, even though retail associates are not expected to train in the lab. I'm very disappointed in the direction this company has gone. And, unfortunately, most of us that have worked for the company for more than 10 years are not in a position to find another job that will give us the benefits we're already receiving, so we're kind of stuck.
