Pros

-Many perks. -401K -PTO - -As far as management is concerned. The pay rates are competitive.

Cons

-Terrible treatment of workforce. -Took pensions away from benefits package. -Your made to feel icky when you find out how much the company profits from the hard work of its employees, yet refuses to match said employees 401k contributions. -Closing all in store labs across North America. -Goodbye glasses in 1 hour. -Goodbye almost 40% of Lenscrafters work force. -The amount of money they charge their uninsured customer's for a pair of glasses, would make you vomit. -Especially considering the fact that you can go to: America's Best, or 4 Eyes, or any other competitor, & get the same exact lens & frame products for a fraction of the cost. -That's because Luxottica (Lenscrafters parent company) has been the largest manufacturer of optical frames, in the world for the past 40 years. -And now Luxottica has merged with the largest manufacturer in the world; Essilor. -They really like money, so they market their products directly to their competitors. -Instead of passing the savings on to the customer, those greedy, shiesty, corporate savages, would rather charge more than ever. -I suppose they do need their quarterly bonuses, to buy their beach houses after all.

Plenty of training

Pros

Been in retail for decades now, working in an optical establishment is a little more flexible than traditional retail as you are not tied to the business when it comes to holidays. Plenty of training, especially in a licensed state, easy to do a good job and be helpful, and provide a quality product for customers. Good quarterly discounts on products and free eye exams.

Cons

The training is intense and if you’re coming from a non-optical background it can seem like information overload. It will balance out eventually. When the company launches a new product and wants you to get behind it full force, I’ve learned to hold back because they aren’t really ready to produce it in mass quantities, so you tell your customers about all the bells and whistles and this wonderful product they are going to get, and then suddenly production shuts down and the product is no longer available. They don’t seem to have enough people working in the technical departments at home office to convey a smooth product launch in absolutely anything. The company tends to launch things whether it be a new product, or a new service, or a new technical gadget, without working out all the bugs and kinks. Which can leave you as the customer service representative with egg on your face after you have promised your customer some thing and then it can’t be delivered in a timely manner.
