Pros

None. Free glasses after 1 year of service but its not worth it. ACCUFIT IS A LIE. The process of measurements is true or a degree but very misleading. Once the measurement is taken the lens is cut to the measurements BUT it won't be 5x more accurate. It is measured "down to a tenth of a millimeter" but NOT cut to those specifications simply because the equipment cutting the lens only measures in 1 millimeter increments. Please don't be fooled by this. The competitors all have similar machines that do the exact same thing, if not better. They may not measure it to "a tenth of a millimeter" but the end product is the same.

Cons

There are several red flags with this place. Naming all of them would be an accomplishment but here's the common shortcomings. A LOT of empty promises. Commission was above average but year after year it gets worse. Raises are impossible except for the yearly which is cents.Try requesting one and you'll be told you are no where close to what you deserve, get laughed out of the room, or be given the verbatim "you've reached the max for your tier". Upper management is horrific. There is no support, just side stepping problems and the promise of getting back to you with an update. Immediate managers are just as bad. You'll maybe have a decent one but don't your breath. They like to hire from the outside instead of promoting within. Especially those that know what they are doing and deserve it. Essentially, you are being told what to do by someone who knows next to nothing while also showing them the ropes of the business. You need to cross reference your pay and hours worked. It's normal to be missing a couple hours or holiday/vac pay missing once a month. Plus you cannot check your commission, so its blind faith in that aspect. I'm not saying they are short changing everyone but with the way this company has been cutting corners, it wouldn't be surprising. You take a $1 from everyone without them knowing and you got a good thing going. There isn't a clear direction on where the company wants to go. They'll focus on one thing this year, find that it doesn't work and completely shift to something else the following year. Whatever is trending, which I understand but usually its the simple things that work. Hours are a HUGE problem. A previous review said they're cutting down on full timers and that is spot on! What they want is part timers that work 3hr shifts during the busiest hours. ie: 1 employee opens the store, 5 employees come in staggered for 3hr shifts and 1 employee closes. It works in theory but are you really going to find people who are willing to work 3-5hrs a day? Especially if this is their livelihood. In this economy?? Micromanaging is STRONG. If you have 300 hours for a week and came in at 299 or 301 you'll get an email/ phone call. You better have a good reason to say the least. There are multiple conference calls regarding 'what can we do to be better'. If only you can ask the company itself what it could do for its employees. We the employees are what make you. The cherry on top: A store is in works to be relocated, promises all the nice new bells and whistles only to be told a few months later that everything currently in the new relocation will be gutted because the original design is now going to be changed. The lease on the old location is up and cannot be extended. All the employees are now laid off until this newer designed store is open. Optimistically in a few months it will open but again, this company and its empty promises. You have good people to work with minus the manager(s) but there are just too many things that turn you off. The extra cherry: The relocated/reno'ed store had a lab but will no longer have one. You lay off people that have been there for at least 5 to almost 25+ years. It could have been handled better to say the least and I can't help but feel for these people. Jobless because Lenscrafters couldn't get right with planning.

Pros

It's a stable job, you won't get fired

Cons

The company tried to save money by cutting what they can where. The stores are always understaffed. This makes it a very stressful place to work. You have to be a mutlitasker All management is only concerned about how they will get their next position. A lot of back stabbing. They don't really train you in everything. This way you can never do it better than them. With this cut-throat atmosphere, things will get worse. And the commission plan sucks, might as well be none.

Pros

The pros of working at LensCrafters are small. You are given one free pair of eye wear per year, as well as one free eye exam. Since most stores are open from 9am-9pm (around there), there are different shifts you can work depending on how busy your schedule is.

Cons

The pay is basically nothing. I have worked in 4 different locations and can safely say that all stores have the same issues as I'm going to list below. After working for the company for 4 years and being a part of the management team, I made $10.97 per hour. Commissions are cut each year, to the point where most weeks you only make $20 or less. During insurance week in December, you can sell $18,000 per week and only take home $45 in commission. There are no health benefits available, as management makes sure you work just under the minimum amount of hours to qualify. Management is poor at best. You are controlled to the point of ridicule, micro managed and belittled. You are humiliated in front of customers and openly criticized in front of fellow employees. Scheduling is random and biased in favor of management. Drama runs rampant in most stores. Higher management has no power to change the behaviors of the GMs and RMs. The hiring process is a joke, anyone who is breathing gets hired, regardless of skill or customer service. Management is constantly fighting with each other, making work a miserable and tense experience. As an employee, you are treated as a slave to corporate and management.
