Pros

Forward-thinking industry. It's probably is a great company in departments other than web development/product launch. Though, as an enterprise, they did have three layoffs during the time I worked there.

Cons

Contentious attitude from the VP down. Design reviews were conducted where the VP called the designers stupid and should go back to school. Horrible environment. One writer just walked out of a meeting and left a sticky note on his manager's desk saying he had quit.

Not sure we agree with your Heading statement. Our culture is dependent of teamwork globally. If we don't have solid teamwork, we wont succeed. We would have never grown into the #1 PC company in the world. It is a shame you had a bad experience in your specific team. I would have recommended that you contact this with your HR partner. Mutual respect is expected at Lenovo. Disrespecting anyone at any level is not acceptable here. Thank you for your time while with us...and we wish you had a better team experience.

Pros

Executive exposure. Adding value to the business with your analysis. Get to interact with all the different functional areas such as marketing, operations, and development. Great learning environment. If you not laid off, your rewarded from a career aspect.

Cons

Long hours due to calls at night with the China team. Tough time with the business climate we are in. Constant fear of layoffs. Don't own your career, management tells you where you will go next.

These are some good comments. Firstly, at Lenovo, our teams are small and you can make a solid impact on small teams. Secondly, for global roles, there are sometimes off hour calls. We did have some recent resource actions that could not be discussed ahead of time. Perhaps we should have been more open about business results, but that it tricky as we are a public company that cannot share that type of information. We have taken recent steps to be more transparent regarding the business....particularly the parts associated with our acquisitions. Thanks for your feedback.

Pros

As an employee, you are entitled to receive compensation in the form of a paycheck. Name recognition among a few people.

Cons

- Complete lack of transparency from management - Willing and eager to transfer white collar jobs to China, eliminate American jobs - Bidding process favors Chinese vendors and may be rigged - YY's vision and tactics are outdated - Absolutely no guidance from Chinese bosses, just constant questions about what value one brings as an employee

Thanks for your comments. YY is one of the most recognized CEO's in the world for what he has done to date. We are in the middle of a major transition from PC only to PC+, including 2 massive acquisitions at the same time. This was a very aggressive yet necessary move for Lenovo. Yes, we took actions globally that impacted jobs out of necessity. This was very unfortunate and we wish everyone affected the very best. The bottom line is our overall cost was too high. You may want to communicate your concerns about management to HR, because proper guidance and communication is key. You may also want to consider there may be cultural differences that you should try to understand and see your team through a positive lens. This may help a lot. But if you are truly just working for a paycheck, you are not helping Lenovo or yourself and you may negatively affecting others. You need to decide....if you are committed to improve Lenovo or if you are better off starting over elsewhere. Whatever you decide, you have our support. Thanks for your time with us.
