Pros

If you are just out of cosmetology school you will get lots of experience but not much training.

Cons

You will be taken advantage of- work a lot of over time, leaving early if it is slow and be called back an hour later if the Salon get packed. Miss lunch breaks because we have to keep our Wait times low. You won't get any other official brakes because the time down between customers is our break. I have worked 60 hours in a week and as low as 25 hours depending on how much staff we have at the time. When I am supposedly full-time? Salon go through stylist like it's water because of this you will have schedules fluctuatetion week by week. Lots of rules, can be very stressful, Little pay. If you do not fit in with management you will be disposed of as soon as possible. I have seen this time and time again. You will have a lot of pressure from your manager but most of that pressure comes up from the higher-ups. If you are in the Kansas City area and looking for a job and decide to work for great clips watch for the franchise owners. Do not work for Carpe Diem by far the worst. I work for work for a different franchise owner now. Cheap but not too horrible.

Pros

I can commend the presence of a client base you don't have to work hard on your own to create. If you are totally committed to the steps you can make profit for the business. If there is a solid galvanized team you can smoothly flow with the hectic pace.

Cons

Sometimes they tend to be rather unconcerned if you have a life issue. Example if you get sick, it's a problem. If your family member gets sick then it's not holding you back according to the strive for shift coverage. Also the staff that gets welcomed as new recruits get the "fake love", let things get old and super busy, after time you get treated worse than the girls in "The Help". The majority of new crew is unfortunately not fluent in team flow or structure, old cutters tend to lose balance and can get reprimanded for being overwhelmed, and stressed.

Cash Tips Are Great

Recommend

Pros

Great place to work if you want minimal raises, awful managers and franchise owners, and a hostile working environment. Discrimination and favoritism daily. Will work you 39.5 hours so that you are not eligible for benefits. If they don’t like you will cut your hours to 2 shifts a week so that you quit and they don’t have to pay unemployment. “Base” pay is a joke and is not dependent on experience but how much your manager likes you.

Cons

Constant fine motor movement will destroy rotator cuff, neck, and hands. Carpal Tunnel is a given and you won’t get company benefits. The $6.99 Haircut Sale is awful. The only thing “good” about this job is the cash tips.
