Pros

Immediate clientele. You don't have to build a book. Salons are very busy so good income potential from day one. No chemical services - just haircuts. (pro for me, some may consider this a con). Good chance for promotions to management. They promote from within.

Cons

Not all salons are busy. You have to get with a high volume salon to make a lot of $$.

You know what's expected. you make tips which greatly increases earning potential.

Cons

hard to receive raises. it does offer cheap prices which can bring in some dirtier clients
