Pros

Working at a sporting goods company is cool and the products are fun to work with. Work-life balance is good and the hours are pretty set. There are opportunities in other countries if you work your way up. The company heavily promotes from within, but that mostly takes place in Europe.

Cons

The review that said “Unconcerned with realities of customer expectations, retail, and employment norms in the US” is incredibly accurate. Read that for everything you need to know. The willful ingnorance of the US retail landscape has led to a series of poor decisions that leaves the management constantly making changes to save face. English within the corporation is abysmal. For a 13 billion dollar company it is embarrassing. Conversations amongst managers and anyone French-speaking are always conducted in French and leave American workers out. Additionally, workers from abroad receive much better benefits than the other employees leaving all Americans feeling as if they are second-class employees. Management continues to bring in employees from abroad rather than promote from within which makes the situation worse. The company is EXTREMELY cheap and always defaults to doing more with less, which does not work if you base your company in the SF Bay Area. Don’t expect good pay or benefits. Turnover is high as a result. Performance reviews are very rigid and usually focus on negative aspects of performance rather than positives. Little help is provided to correct the negatives.

Pros

Sports culture - doing sports is encouraged and sometimes team activities are sports-based Employee discount and gift card for staff People from other departments are nice. Interns tend to work together as well and fun bunch to be with

Cons

Retail staff not felt as part of the office staff. Sometimes there's animosity from retail staff when getting them to do things. Marketing team is run by people who have been in the company for 10 years and people who do not know about Marketing .There's the lack of proper leadership because the marketing management does not have marketing background and keeps pushing what he thinks is right. Fake listening to employees and then will start to push his own ideas onto you. Not a good feeling. Sometimes will see teammates get discouraged. Since then, 4 people have left since January 2019. Marketing managers are now inexperienced people who are too young to lead a team.
