Constant shortage of manpower to maximize efficiency output/person puts a toll on staff on the ground level. They only want to promote and groom young grads who are lacking in life experience and leadership skills, so if you’re a mid-career switcher, think twice about joining because the opportunities for growth and promotion are questionable even though they always paint a visionary picture out there. Poor communication and lack of transparency from the top management. Constant power play in management level which fuels a toxic environment. Expats receive a higher pay and position than locals - so foreigners, which holds about 80% of the top salary in the company have a lot of say for being the privileged hired. No clear career progression path. Unable to retain good staff, no longer human focused.

I had a terrible time working as an accountant at Decathlon Ireland. My manager was terrible and he always micromanaged me. Work from home was not allowed even though work could be done remotely. The work was very disorganised. Nobody knew what was going on, even the managers. The month-end processes were a mess. No proper training was provided at the beginning. The upper management could only speak French and was hard to communicate with. There was so much overtime. The pay was low as well. Stay away from this company.
