Interview
Disappointment! I applied for the SRE position at Booking because I thought I fit the skills they want. HR didn't attend the first interview 4 times. We rescheduled 5. times and we finally chat. They said that a software language experience (Java) in the position is required; this skill is 80% of all skills. I wish they would have mentioned this in the job description. Totally waste of time!

Interview
- Screening call with the recruiter. - Live Coding with 2 SREs (no need to to execute the code just write and explain the solution including the complexity). - Live System Design with 2 SREs. - Final Offer Call with the HR.

Question 1
A live coding interview with leetcode style of questions. I was given time to prepare on trees and graphs. The system design was challenging compared to the other system-designs I had done. I was asked to design a configuration store and retrieve system for booking with very precise requirements.
1.Phone screen
The recruiter would talk to you about why you want to find another job and the details in your experience
2.Coding interview
It's a medium level algorithm, which is basically to find a solution of hotel choosing to satisfy the expected amount of days to stay and within budget limit. I had a rough solution but it's kinda hard to follow thru while being frequently asked to talk with the interviewers. Also it's white board coding and debugging is not allowed. So I guess getting the result is not the ultimate goal but will definitely make you stand out from the others.
