Pros

Decent pay for pharmacists (for now).

Cons

At the call centers (pharmacist employee): Weekly coaching over issues like, "don't forget to close with 'Be Well" or why your calls are averaging a few seconds more than the target 2 minute length.." No time allocated off call queue for ANY RPh training important for improving patient care or staying current. No quality/service improvement effort is done as a group. Management by directive is the model employed here. Ideas for improving operations go nowhere. In general, pharmacists are managed by entry-level business managers making half an RPh salary at best. In this mundane job, your limited scope of responsibilities (data entry of prescriptions, counseling patients in under 2 minutes), will quickly turn your brain to mush and does not help with job security outside this job. Oh, and if a call doesn't come in right after your last one, you're very lucky for the moment (it won't last). You'll do 200+ calls in a single shift. So this is what 6+ years of college gets you? Good luck. You may opt for a slightly less paying job that allows you to use your brain.

Pros

Where there used to be nothing but positive things I would say about the company, once the Walgreens family left, there are ZERO pro's to being an employee for this company.

Cons

Job always on the line...forced to practice against moral beliefs...all support help cut to bare minimum...customer is last on the list of concerns...benefits have been cut to the bone...management expects you to smile and be happy you have a job.

Pros

Decent benefits - insurance offered but fairly bad coverage, good employee discount, decent financial investment benefits, good learning opportunities, ability to grow with the market (although if now in a good growing market your screwed). Learning and licensing in RX. Lucky to be in a good CL store, and get to learn from some of the best, but it all depends on the store and leadership.

Cons

Stores are so micro-managed corporate makes it hard to get anything done. Hours are ridiculously tight and pay has been slashed so much that good new employees are a rare commodity. Their re-structuring, aka, job slashing has been a low blow to those who have stuck with the company for years. Good managers have been screwed out of wages and positions and forced to leave or face a huge pay cut. Shift leads are expected to pick up the slack for $5 less an hour.
