Great mission let down by politics and poor management
Pros
ThoughtWorks has a global mission to revolutionise the technology industry. There really are people who believe in this mission that work at this place and they can achieve great things when they put their minds to it. During my time there I personally got involved with some of the community work that ThoughtWorks does and it was something special to be able to give back with the backing of the company to boot.
Cons
Unfortunately the current state of affairs in the SA office is that there is a select few at the top who have gained the backing of global players and now choose their allies from among the ThougtWorkers. If you're not in the clique with them then you are against them and doomed to be sidelined. The once open conversations and platforms in the office and now simple decorations and if you truly speak your mind be prepared for a tongue lashing from the leadership in the office. The Expats who came to SA to help build a ThoughtWorks culture have been told to leave and the learning and growing have fallen by the wayside in favour of billing.
