Pros

-Training for entry level college grads -Lots of responsibility -Good benefits and Decent Pay -Other opportunities beyond the typical retail management; such as human resources and logistics

Cons

Where do I begin..........First off I was recruited by Target out of college and took part in there college intern program then was promoted to ETL. I lasted about 15 months then couldn't hack it so I was let go. The biggest problem I had was that my I felt my STL never gave me great direction or supported any of my decisions. Every week upper management had something new to focus on to boost sales and that is very annoying and does not lead to productivity. Also management would change performance standards for employees in order to cut down the workforce. This was very sad beacuse people had been there 10+ years and all of a sudden they were not good enough at their jobs. The job also required long hours 11+ a day and since you are salary you don't get overtime and you are expected to work until the store is perfect. With that being said I learned a lot about retail, management and sales but if are in the same situation I was I would say get the experience and leave. There are better places to work for, who pay better, get more time off, more respect and challenge you better.

Pros

Resume builder. Target is one of the most successful businesses in the US and you are exposed to a lot of processes in a short period of time.

Cons

NO work/life balance. If you are married or value any personal time this is not the job for you. You WILL be in the office 60-70 hrs per week, every week. The Business Analyst position also has the wrong title. It should be Inventory Management Analyst because that is your main responsibility. The position is very high turnover and out of the class you join with (30 or so people), 25% of the class will be fired or quit within the first 3 months. You either fit in 100% or you leave. Also, be prepared to buy a pricey wardrobe because if you don’t look like an Express model you may be on your way out the door. Also, have the most excited/bubbly personality or you will be told you are not passionate about the job and may be asked if this is the "right fit" for you.
