Pros

- If you are in the in group and work harder than most of your team members, you can earn extra hours - On rare occasions, HR will arrange a buffet of meals. Unfortunately, evening team members usually had this treat

Cons

- Favoritism - Management shows lack of humility toward its workers - Management shows no gratification for hard work - Management refuses to fix issues amongst employees - Management's disgusting attitude toward legitimate complaints against coworkers - "Fast, Fun, and Friendly" culture only applies toward "guests" and not amongst coworkers - Management in office will secretly listen to channels over the walkie-talkie's - Micromanagement style on managing - Conformity - Management has a "You're wrong and we're right" attitude - You apparently can never, by management's standards, work fast enough - The expectation that you are obligated to subjugate and be subservient to the company - You cannot call out under normal circumstances (Unless you are practically on your deathbed or one of the favorites) - Absolutely NO overtime or you get written up - Management will dump their work onto lower level employees - Having conversations with customers is considered wasting payroll (which can be understood in some regard) - Management hates injuries! - Specific people in management care about "being in the green" over everything else

Pros

Well-known brand name with good leadership experience. Co-workers are great, they have to work very hard. They can become friends for life.

Cons

They are Walmart colored in red. The corporate human resources and store & district leadership said the job would be 45-50 hours a week. The responsibilities would include mostly leadership activities with some task based work. When I settled into the role at the store my STL expected me to spend all my time stocking shelves, checking out customers, dumping trash, recycling cardboard, cleaning up spills, and so on. That made it hard to do perform my duties as an assistant manager. At that time I was told by my STL and field leadership members that I need to my managerial activities (writing performance reviews, statuses, scheduling, etc...) on my days and weekends off. So much for the 45-50 hour work week... so much for any chance at a life outside of work for that matter! I walked away after just a few months and luckily got my previous job back.

Pros

Target is an extremely ethical company to work for. The company cares about its Team Members. When hours are low, there's always a way to pick up more shifts. They reward the team regularly and have frequent games going on. Target will work with your schedule and there's an open-door policy when you need someone to talk to.

Cons

It's a retail job, so you're dealing with the public.
