Pros

Working in a position that directly effects loss through apprehension of shoplifters and investigation of employee theft. Supervisory position. Guaranteed 40 hours a week. Great after college job in a Criminal Justice field!

Cons

No ability to coach for performance outside of your team or for not following direction for loss prevention/merchandise protection strategies. Supervised employees hours are not protected and have to be justified regularly or the positions are cut completely. May be stuck in a location where you are by yourself as an "Assets Protection Leader" without a team and with only the LOD team as support for operational issues and the investigations centers during the week for assistance with shoplifters. No bonuses or additional incentives offered. Overtime has to get special approval and is never offered.

Pros

Target has extremely competitive pay for the retail sector at the store level for management. An emphasis on personal development and allowing you to create an effective team.

Cons

You do work nights and weekends depending on your role and the needs of the business. Fourth quarter expect to work 12 hour plus days and more than 5 days a week.
