Pros

Lack of technical skills? Don’t worry, TMF is the place for you. You will do well and get promoted quickly if you know how to do the “sweet talk” and flattery to make the boss happy.

Cons

- Helicoptered incompetent and inexperienced executives from overseas that do not adapt to Australian culture. Long working hours is expected and promoted. - Obedience to authority supporter. Decision-making power is held in fewer favorites’ hands. Employee are scared to speak up, because you will get into trouble or even loss the job tomorrow. - Unfair rewarding system. High performance employees are not rewarded. The bluffing and favorite ones are. - Full of politics. It’s very important who you are close with, and even where you sit. - Very high staff turnover. Capable people cannot survive here.

Pros

TMF Group has good potential. It is the only company that does what it does, worldwide. If the management can get it together, ti can continue to grow and can become huge.

Cons

The company is owned by a PE firm, who put pressure on the management to cut costs and to turn around within the standard PE cycle of 4 - 5 years. This makes things difficult - costs are always being cut; strategy is being changed as the top management sprint to hit their deadline. It results in stress and lack of certainty.

Pros

Nice renovated offices in Causeway Bay 9 to 5 30 hours OK place if you just want to “float” but don’t have real career ambitions

Cons

Heads of Departments and MD pulled in from other businesses and don’t really know well the Services which they administer. Revolving door of leadership. MD uses Peter Principle to hire rather than value real talent and track record. No real meritocracy eg one of the Heads of Department in HK only has high school level qualifications. Not OK, especially in HK where credentials are valued. Lots wrong internally. MD makes sure that the inner circle is only yes people rather than value different views. Gives rise to glass ceiling and chemistry issues with management, especially if you have career goals and want to get ahead. Try it and you may not like it.

Our team are experts in their respective fields/roles, especially our HODs who, by job requirement are professionally qualified. We foster career development and internal promotion is always our first preference when there is opening in the organization - in Hong Kong, we have an internal promotion rate of 19% over the past 12 months alone. We believe in working as a team in a transparent structure and appreciate that with a diverse team, leadership styles may vary but this is a value we uphold and commit to at TMF Group.
