Pros

Clean, friendly work environment. Seemed like everyone was willing and wanting to help new starters. Amazing benefits and fantastic facilities accessible to employees (only after the 6 month probation period).

Cons

Management don't seem to communicate to each other, no one really knows what they are doing. GDPR laws were not abided, and management did not seem to care about this. Situations were not handled delicately or professionally- safeguarding does not seem to exist. Probation period is six months long; so if you don't meet their targets or if you do one simple thing wrong they have ample time to weed out employees that they do not like. A very cliquey team, they all seem to protect each other even when they are completely in the wrong, although this makes sense as they rather indulge in their Friday Family Dinners.

Pros

Octopus is an excellent place to work, with a strong and supportive culture. There is a genuine focus on employee wellbeing, and people are made to feel valued and looked after. The collaborative environment and the relationships built across teams are a real strength of the company.

Cons

I’ve seen the dynamics at Octopus change significantly over the past four years, and with change often comes challenges in adapting. After careful consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to resign. This wasn’t an easy choice, especially as I’ve built strong relationships within the company and made lifelong friends. My primary reason for leaving is financial. The salary sits at the lower end of the industry, which is somewhat surprising given the company’s position as a leader in the sector. While I had previously accepted this due to opportunities to increase earnings through additional work, such as on-call duties, these opportunities have now been limited. As a result, I no longer feel able to remain in my role.
