Pros

There is flexibility for part timers. There are oppurtunities to earn commission and at times, it can make quite a difference in you income.

Cons

The management is very unknowledgeable of eyecare. Hours are based on the stores revenue. Since the base pay is low, competition for commission is cut throat.

Pros

Flexible retail schedule can make for a good work/life balance. Entry level positions to get into optics. Great employee benefits including insurance, retirement plans, and free eyecare/eyewear.

Cons

Lack of follow through on the corporate level. Changes are made so frequently that by the time your staff is retrained and fully functioning under one form of leadership the rug is pulled out from under you and a new form is introduced. Not enough formal training to prepare new associates/managers for the field. Excessive finger pointing and "scapegoating" instead of taking responsibility.

Pros

The manager and coworkers are great. There's a sence of community among employees. Work/life balance is a priority. Schedules are made to try to accomodate individual needs. Multiple training resources are available and encouraged. The store is beautiful and kept very clean. Convenient location within a popular shopping village. Advanced equipment for better accuracy.

Cons

The starting pay is low, but not the worst. We have frequent cuts in hours. Not a ton of advancement opportunities within the store. The drinking fountains are broken and a crummy break room.
