Pros

Work is usually straighforward. You know what is expected of you as they use targets and goals to guide your work. If you are detail oriented, like working with your hands and can think fast it can be a rewarding job. You feel like you are making a difference for people, especially when you create free eyeware for people who need it.

Cons

Not alot of variation, you encounter the same problems often. Day to day it is very much the same. Time is of the essence in a very delicate process and this can lead to frusteration when techinical problems arise.

Pros

Work Schedule Flexibility. Ability To Learn On The Job.

Cons

Totally focused on sales and not on customer service. You're only as valuable as last weeks sales numbers. Poor management and poor follow through by management. Again, all they are interested in is sales numbers and statistics. Low employee morale. I overheard our General Manager (GM) discussing on a conference call with either Regional Management or Corporate discussing how our fellow employees complaining about not be schedule enough hours and he said, "If they want more hours they are going to have to sell more." Does that tell you anything? I would never consider a meaningful career with Lenscrafters (Luxottica). They don't pay very well in comparison to other optical retail companies. They also hire non-Licensed Opticians as management. They also spend a great deal of money on floor displays while not compensating employees.
