Pros

Coworkers make or break it. Luckily all my coworkers are excellent, including my new GM. The pay is pretty good if we make the goal for the week, and even if we don't, the hourly pay is much better than a lot of places. The hours aren't bad where I work and you're never there later than 9:00. My GM is new but very willing to work hard right alongside us, which hasn't always been the case in other jobs I've worked. The quality of the product is much higher than elsewhere, which naturally means it's going to cost more, but the company is very willing to work with people in the event that their purchase is not to their liking.

Cons

It is a LOT of work. Although we're retail associates, we're also expected to know a lot about ocular health in general, as well as remember a hundred other things in relation to the retail aspect. Our managing dr can be a nightmare with very high expectations and very little positive feedback. Patients can be very exhausting to work with as well because they expect the sales associates to know a lot more than we're required to know. Insurance is a major headache all around and unfortunately there's a lot of work involving insurance companies. Sales goals can be absolutely ridiculous and a lot of patients complain because the pricing is high in comparison to other places. The company seems to prefer to hire outside talent rather than promoting from within.

Pros

Great benefits as a company. For a retail position it was a pleasure working for LensCrafters and very much enjoyed my time there. I Did not leave because of any hard feelings but simply because I was offered other opportunities. Higher than average pay and friendly atmosphere. They also have a great program for becoming an optician. You can learn on the job and log hours towards your studies. (This takes some time though 2-4 Years depending if you are taking some schooling with it.)

Cons

Lots to learn. You have to take classes online through the Luxottica training website. Overall the training is nice because it helps you understand the job you are working, however every so often they will have you learn a new program which gets a little after a while. This is a very minor issue unless you don't like to learn. Biggest complaint is that the company doesn't like to hire full-time for sales associates and when the industry is slow they take the hours from you. If this is a field you want to get in to, try to grow as fast as possible.

Pros

free pair every year. Experience charity work with Onesight. Good commission when store goal is met. Learn sales. Maybe learn optical or skills in the lab that you can take and move on with.

Cons

Company focus is no longer on optical. Poor staffing. Poor work/life balance. Black out dates for vacation( months at a time). Part time benefits are bad. FT is okay.
