Pros

-You can work a lot. -Sometimes you get commission. -Mostly independent -Very agreeable co-workers/employees

Cons

-You don't make any money. -Your 'comission' is a flat rate per unit, and it can be taken out of your future paycheck if someone has to reorder/remake the glasses. -Most stores have zero room for career progression. -Your schedule from week to week will be changing consistently.

Pros

One free pair of glasses a year (up to 1000 dollars), 2 free pairs every 5 years. Pretty good pay

Cons

Poor management. If something goes wrong with a customer's order, management makes you deal with it. Money hungry. Weird commission system. Customers can treat you like garbage, and management won't console with the customer, because the customer is more valuable. Depending on your management team, they are either hovering over everything you do, (They literally plan out every minute of your day.) Or, they aren't scheduled at all, and you fend for yourself. Scheduling is weird, one day on, one day off, repeat, or, 5-7 days in a row..? Okay. This company is so disorganized, it constantly loses peoples' eyewear. Or, the lab does double check lenses, so they send us crap ones, which in turns makes customers even more angry. Angry customers = angry employees = management goes crazy. Taking the exams can be a little rough, especially if you have no optical background. Each test cost $300, and they only reimburse if you pass the 100 question exam the first try, but good luck. Lastly, on top of all the other responsibilities you have as an apprentice, and a sales associate, you are also a janitor. Yay.

Pros

Leaders were great at training and very helpful.

Cons

Everyone had a different perspective on work environment . Some coworkers and the manager had ugly attitude with customers. Manager had mood changes and contradicted herself plenty of times. Getting helped from a manager was never an option.
