Pros

The benefits and compensation are great

Cons

Senior leadership is terrible. They will gas light you constantly. Trying to make you think you are the problem. When in reality, it is their unrealistic sales equations that are the problem. Everything is based on numbers, and performance management. You could have the most solid team. And the most operationally sound store. But the second you do not hit one of their 100 KPIs. You are belittled. Publicly shamed on conference calls. Group chats..etc…Store managers can never fully disengage from their store, on days off. Because you are required to be in a “teams chat” that constantly goes off. Do not waste your life working here. You will never be good enough. They do not value good employees.

Pros

The hours are more flexible than traditional retail. Free glasses.

Cons

When I first started here it was great. It was flexable, my team worked well together and my pay started out decent doe the time. But the last few years this company has gone downhill fast. First they shut our full lab down and made us emergency only. Into my second year we lost our manager and were left in the dark for 6-7 months with no help from regional or any other upper management. We held out store together and still managed to stay at the top in our region. We were given little to no support, no raises, and no recognition during this difficult time. It was only after they found a new manager my team and I were able to obtain the support and raises we needed. That was only because we were already an established team and she knew we were all about to walk. The commission system has been restructured so it's impossible to earn hours and get our comission at the same time, and any incentive to become a cerftified optician has been stripped, no raises are given for ABO certification anymore. They have also stopped hiring full time and only want part time workers. Part time workers do not receive full benefits such as PTO and health insurance. The most part timers can get is holiday pay and a 401k. They have also extended hours without giving us the proper payroll and no incentive. The career opportunities used to be great, as you could go far in company, but not anymore. Overall I'm disappointed with the direction this company is going. Raising prices and cutting pay and full time opportunities. They also cap out pay at 20 dollars an hour (if you even get there), that is not a living wage anymore.
