Pros

This used to be the best company in the world to be a part of. The founders, Rick Mikles and Joseph Acebal were amazing men who created a one-of-a-kind industry that blossomed into a first-class experience for Customers and Employees. They truly cared about every aspect of the company and were extremely loyal and generous. As an employee, you felt appreciated and part of something special. You mattered and so did your hard work and your opinion. Rick and Joe were not bosses or managers, they were REAL LEADERS who empowered you to be and do your best. Bruce Fabel will never even remotely come close to measuring up to them. Ever!

Cons

Upon acquisition of the company, Bruce Fabel was appointed CEO. Big Mistake!!!! This one man has all but completely destroyed the company and the brand. As a "potential employee" reading these reviews, you should know that the Ideal Image NOW is not the wonderful Ideal Image that it was back THEN. These are real reviews from real employees who wanted and needed to have a voice again. All of the "great reviews" you see are current employees in Tampa who were instructed to write them by Bruce Fabel, specifically about himself and how great he is. Yes, he is that vain that he instructed employees to write reviews to boost his ego and counteract the multiple negative reviews. Having to work with him was just awful! He is controlling, manipulative and arrogant. He harshly judges other people because he believes he is better than them and he intimidates them with his "power". He uses his position as a my way or the highway tactic. He is inappropriate and makes derogatory and unnecessary comments to you because he "can"! He has fired or forced all of the employees, who were the backbone of the company, to resign. If you do not follow his strict orders, including what to eat and drink, you will be next. Literally, he told us what we can eat and drink in the office. To work here, you must look a "certain way" and participate in all company functions, even though you put in extreme overtime weekly, you must still give up your weekend family time to attend company gatherings or you will be accused of "not participating or caring". This is the new corporate environment and it is felt at the center level too. Changes are made daily regarding pay structure and bonuses, new services are pushed into the centers with minimal training and test trials and employees and customers are unhappy! The turn over rate is higher than it has ever been. Bruce cares about 2 things... His ego and his paycheck. He has his eyes on the money and any and everything between that means nothing. This is how to destroy a company- Let Bruce show you!

The founders of Ideal Image Rick and Joe created a wonderful company. Our President Bruce Fabel has preserved the incredible company culture they created. Our associates under our president’s leadership are committed to evolve Ideal Image into an anti-aging company that helps our guests’ age gracefully. We are committed to providing services that help our guests’ look and feel great! Some of our former associates had trouble dealing with change. We wish them luck in the future and appreciate the contributions they made.

Pros

Founders Richard Mikles and Joseph Acebal created an amazing brand and culture that resulted in a one of a kind company providing a one of a kind service. There was no limit to the company’s success and growth potential, because there was no limit to ours as employees. As employees we felt empowered, engaged, appreciated, and inspired. That was then.

Cons

Enter current Ideal Image president Bruce Fabel. From the first day Bruce was named president by the new owners (Steiner Leisure), Ideal Image has been in a paralyzing freefall of bad decisions, terrible marketing ideas, runaway spending, dwindling sales, and poor leadership. Bruce has been nothing short of a one-man-wrecking-ball that has done an enormous amount of damage to the Ideal Image brand. This is the man that came up with the idea of having “divorce parties” at the centers to try and get new guests. If Steiner allows him to continue going down this reckless, suicidal path, Bruce will surely pull the company down into oblivion before long.

Our President, Bruce Fabel, IS NOT ruining the company, he is improving it. Bruce was hired because of his strong track record of success with companies like Nike, Calvin Klein and Universal Studios. Bruce has demonstrated his commitment to the company’s employees by implementing many programs including the company’s Years of Service award program that provides all Ideal Image associates with recognition and a monetary award for their commitment to the company. Bruce also has increased the bonus opportunities for all our center employees. I have never experienced a company culture as fantastic as Ideal Image. We receive an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from our current and former employees and stay committed to continued improvement. We understand some former associates have had difficulty with change. The corporate and center associates have done an excellent job launching new services to help our guests age gracefully. Under Bruce’s direction, Ideal Image continues to strive to delight our guests and help them look and feel great!

Pros

Free services. Most teams are all females, so you can make some good friends. And your "bosses" are never at your center.

Cons

Ideal Image, when privately owned was an amazing company to work for. I've worked here for 3 years at multiple locations. Like MANY other strong veteran sales staff I'm very unhappy with the way things are headed. The ONLY staff/team members that are taken care of are those in Tampa. If you are reading the reviews on Ideal Image, there is a common theme, 95% of employees are unhappy and the remainder work at Tampa Headquarters and are well taken care of. Sure at Tampa they have a fitness center, monthly incentives, team building activities, free services for any friends and family, oh and Yacht rides around the Tampa area for the end of the year party. And all drinks and food are included. At ANY other location you are expected to work 50+ hours a week, are asked to stay at center whole time if you are in sales (so no lunch workouts here), no extra incentive for center sales members, your family can get 50% off packages (paying more than some of the guests off the street), and the end of the year party, well you will be asked to spend your OWN $25 and then you can submit that receipt for reimbursement. Additionally, if you are at the Tampa Centers, SoFla Centers, or the LARGEST centers in the US you will be visited and supported by the CEO, national, and regional directors. If you are at one of the other 110 locations, well you are on your own. I use the term supported by CEO, Bruce Fabel, lightly. There are numerous reports that he has acted and spoke inappropriately to the female staff at centers, and WHEN we do receive a corp email from him, he typically likes to include a selfie, boosting about some great thing that he's doing that the other 99% of us are not. Yes some of the review slyly mention how if you aren't a self starter than its not the company for you, and yes its fast paced and always adding new services - that is actually a great thing. And would be even better if Corp knew how to roll out a new change. Typically its rolled out, then your regional might know something a week or two later. And then the helpdesk might learn how to help at that same time. But Bruce and the rest of the Tampa team are pumped because they don't work in a center and don't ask for feedback from actual staff and therefore aren't a part of any of the unhappy guest feedback, or the center getting upset because its not as effective. I'll keep the info about the pay short - its not what they tell you its gonna be. The amount of leads that come through are very minimal lately. Our pay has changed in the negative three times since Steiner Leisure and Bruce Fabel took over. Excellent strong consultants are leaving weekly. You will be lucky to make $10k over the base pay. And if you are interviewing, ask to see the Reports that are generated daily. It will show you what each center really brings in and that you won't make the money they are promising. If you are a RN, NP, or PA - this is a CAKE JOB - and you'll make a ton of money lasering hair. Anyone else look elsewhere. The services are also a con - in the sense that they don't work for everyone, and there's no way to tell if you are in the small percentage where you just won't get results, whether that's laser, ultherea, or coolscultping. Do yourself the favor and search reviews and results on these services so you can prepare yourself with a strong sales pitch. And the products that they want you to push but you won't get paid on, a joke. WAY overpriced. Bliss is sold everywhere for 1/8 what we are "selling" it for. Don't worry the products come out of your way...and not at the small 1/8 cost, but at what Corp calls "retail" cost. Sure thing! Benefits - horrible, they change the insurance yearly, the cost for add'l family - robbery. Although Steiner is a BILLION dollar company they don't contribute/match your 401k. AWFUL of them. And you'll get a bunch of slack when you say you want to take PTO. And PTO does not look like other companies that are making what Steiner is. If you are looking to start as a GSC for a resume builder and you've met with the regional and he/she seems like they might be 25% supportive than this might be a good place for you to work. If you are medical and you are tired of the hospitals and don't mind long hours, this might be the place to work. But all should think long and hard and read through the BS reviews that Bruce asked tampa employees to write.

Ideal Image provides our associates with job ownership in a supportive environment. We believe if you hire the right people you do not have to micro manage them. Ideal Image also wants all our associates to feel like an owner. Our corporate office’s only purpose is to support the efforts of our field associates. While we know Glassdoor’s review site has the best intentions, it is unfortunate that Glassdoor’s platform allows anonymous terminated employees the opportunity to make false accusations about a company and attack its leadership and employees. One individual can place an unlimited amount of negative reviews claiming to be different people. If you are considering employment with Ideal Image, we will be happy to share some of the many positive testimonials we have received from our current and former employees. In addition, we will allow you to speak with current employees prior to making a decision to join our company. Bruce has visited centers across the United States and Canada seeking out employee feedback to ensure we are listening and supporting our center associates. Under Bruce’s direction, the company has conducted anonymous employee surveys and exit interviews to ensure Ideal Image is providing an Ideal work environment for all of our valued associates.
