Pros

You’ll get the chance to work on multiple financial products, each bringing its own set of interesting and complex engineering challenges , especially in the low latency space. There’s also a team rotation every year, so you’ll be exposed to different tech stacks and problem domains across the organization.

Cons

ION Group India is a completely different experience compared to its European counterpart. Despite the company’s strong potential, it’s been derailed by internal politics — with much of the blame tracing back to Sanjay Chikara’s leadership. The engineering culture is weak. Most engineering managers have little to no technical background. They lack the ability to lead products effectively or support new joiners in their growth. Instead, they default to micromanagement. There’s also a frustrating double standard: Indian employees are expected to slog 45 hours across 5 days every week, while employees in other regions face no such restriction. To make things worse, the company hires around 400 people annually with no real plan for where to place them, leading to confusion and mismanagement — and eventually layoffs.

Pros

Decent offices Some great people remain from acquisitions Relevant work

Cons

Company exists solely to fund the CEO's lifestyle and wealth Zero communication, visibility or transparency about anything that goes on regarding HR, pay, bonus, healthcare, return to office etc Very rare to see anyone promoted or have progression The same execs have been in the company 15+ years and are completely overworked and unable to effect change Toxic atmosphere with no effort to improve morale Incredibly high employee churn

Pros

Good opportunity to learn about Fintech/trading and you get lots of exposure. Grads (LDPs) get favourable treatment and can get involved with many things throughout the business.

Cons

Terrible culture. Everyone moans constantly about the company and has nothing positive to say. Management have no real power. CEO micromanages EVERYTHING. Nothing moves without his signoff. Terrible pay. Expect your pay review to be at least 2 months LATE every year without fail. Bonuses are terrible and base is not competitive. They have a real problem with not being able to retain top talent in their grad program, especially in London. Way better opportunities for young talent outside of this company... Top managers are bullies and lack common respect. CEO is has no interest in making ION a nice place to work. Purely profit motivated individual.
