      Long career with IBM, in the beginning it was a family with great team work, in the end we were too disparate

      Pros

      intelligent co-workers , most of whom cared about the job they were performing good benefits, good pay, alot of vacation time management sensitive to employees's personal issues so time off was granted if needed ability to work from home

      Cons

      highly stressful at times complex environment and at times there were new hires thrown into resolving complex problems when the new hires did not know the customer's environment or needs well enough to resolve problems and achieve proper customer satisfaction

      Pros

      IBM continues to lead the industry in many technology areas. The ability to work an entire career, changing jobs, skills and even geographies at one company is rare, but possible with IBM. Although IBM has acquired a significant number of technology companies, there is still a significant investment in internal R&D. The IBM name still has clout around the world. The total compensation package (benefits, bonuses and pay) are slightly higher than at other multinational high-tech firms. IBM has demonstrated the ability to evolve and grow in a changing market place. IBM, as a company, generally does much more good than harm for society

      Cons

      IBM has ceded the consumer space to other companies which makes the products and services IBM produces less 'flashy'. The upside potential for compensation is not as high as it might be at some smaller companies. Must be self-motivated to really want to excel and achieve good things and take a long-term view to really want to work at IBM.
