You are 100% the machine to produce haircuts and styles. But only receive 20% of what you make. Here is an example: if the haircuts are $18 per cut, and they want you to do at least 4 haircuts per hour (making great clips $72 p.h.) while great clips is paying you $13 or $14 per hour. That's 20% of what you 100% did! You have to 100% provide your clippers, scissors and creative vision. And if you tools break or get stolen 100% on YOU. Great provides you with a chair, cape, comb and water bottle, while everything but the chair you can bring and most stylist do! If you work on mothers day or any holiday they want to be open, they will feed you pizza or some other food that you can easily buy yourself. During black out or high volume customers times , especially around back to school time they have incentives. If the great clip store hit over 10k or more within that incentive week, that's just one week. If you worked that week the store hits that 10k bonus or more you will get $1 yes one whole dollar for each hour you worked that bonus week. So if you worked 25 hours you will get $25, if you worked 40 you get $40. Anything in between you can figure it out! Even with 8 to 10 staff members at that salon still doesn't put a dent in that 10k plus they made off the stylist back and feet! So much room for change and better pay but they don't care. Ran and owned by non stylist. They look down on us.
