Pros

Loyalty, stylists and management bonus, commissions, tips. Customers are usually great, and I actually have a great relationship with my boss(es)

Cons

If we’re slow the day drags, all GC are individually owned so there’s always some sort of miscommunication when it comes from going to one franchise to another. I feel like corporate within itself doesn’t actually care about us (as stylists) but it’s all a roll of the dice if your franchisee/GM are good people then your work/life balance will be better.

Pros

Weekly pay, fellow stylists are kind and talented. Manager will help you with anything you need and is very attentive and kind.

Cons

Uninvolved owners, who does not value a healthy work life balance. Scheduling and day to day is stressful as there is constant call outs and schedule swapping. Hours inconsistent. Could give you 6 days could give you 1. Set days off for some stylists, none for others. Be prepared to cancel your plans, and have to explain yourself if you can’t cover a shift: Customers will take advantage of your kindness often condoned by company. Non tippers are common. Minimum wage pay. If you can’t do a 10 minute haircut, don’t bother. If you are looking for genuine connection and clientele building look the other way. Owner encourages you to work additional jobs but will cut your hours to none of you do.

Because each salon is independently owned and operated, your franchisee would be the best person to address your concerns. Please contact them directly regarding any issues with employment.
