Pros

The culture and people in my department, as well as many other areas of the company, are the best I have ever experienced. Although the benefits may not be considered the best on the market, they extremely good and competitive and also some of the best benefits I have had outside of the military when you look at the total package. Fair hiring practices are a huge priority for the HR and recruiting team and that was great to see. There is a lot of push to be more competative with some of the wages. It is an extremely colaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. A lot of the managers really empower the employees on the corporate level. Work life balance is fantastic at the corporate level, although their PTO policy could stand some improvements. The leadership in my department were all as good as it gets and the senior leadership are really fantastic as well. The CEO remembers almost everyone.

Cons

Although I was fairly compensated for my experience and in comparison to most of the market in my area, pay is definitely an issue for some corporate positions as well as quite a few of the field markets. In the corporate side where there is a lack in pay, in many cases is definitely made up by a great culture, so it will really depend on whether you are driven by money or work environment. There are quite a few areas of the organization that are understaffed both in the field and corporate based on the workload, but mostly in the field. Many field managers will make the complaint that they do not have time to help, coach and mentor the people and many of the people will complain that they are not helped, coached or mentored. So it is easy to see there is some disparity there which reflects in many of the glassdoor reviews. It is not like this throughout the organization, but rather in pockets. Career growth can be difficult at times not because they do not want to promote from within, but because there is a lot of tenure. A lot of people love it there so they do not leave. It is also EXTREMELY competitive. There are a lot of very intelligent and talented people in the organization and you have to really step your game up if you are going to progress. It is a very large organization so the amazing culture you see in some areas is not always seen in others, but I think this is normal with any large-scale organization.

Pros

You get health insurance if you're working full time, and tuition reimbursement up to 2 classes per year. The scheduling is pretty flexible especially if you're a student, and it is easy to take days off. Once you get a hang of the job it is pretty enjoyable, as you are doing something different all of the time. Lots of opportunities for promotions, and transferring to other stores. Overtime is almost always an option by working at other stores

Cons

Upper management is pretty awful. They come visit the stores a few times a year and are incredibly condescending. Each store is pushed to meet certain sales goals that are largely out of our control, however employees do not make any commission, so there is no reward for pushing sales on customers. Angry customers yelling about their shipments, which fedex OFFICE has nothing to do with. This happens multiple times per day. Angry customers that don't know how to use their own phones/laptops and take it out on you, or expect you to fix any technology problem they have, even if it's out of your control. Pretty much verbal abuse by customers every day. I've worked a lot of different customer service jobs (restaurants, grocery stores) and this one has the most negative confrontations. It is very draining. Pay is better than a lot of other entry level jobs, but it is not enough for the work and expertise expected of you.
