Pros
-Discounted massages, half price -Discount on retail -During slow times, depending on the clinic, you can do homework or read -Friendly employees -The customers are here to relax, and are relaxed when they leave, so they hardly ever complain -In a well-run clinic, there are many front desk staff and therapists at all times -Organized office supplies and front desk area, everything has a place, as it should -Commission, without a required target or goal, on retail sales
Cons
-Unprofessional management -Favoritism from management to front desk staff -Unreasonable scheduling for front desk, either all evenings and weekends or early mornings and including running the clinic alone for nine hours -Management does not consider their therapists needs, such as overbooking and breaks -Front desk staff are pushed to "sell sell sell", no matter the circumstance. For example, front desk staff are expected to sell memberships to anyone and everyone including children -Commission is based on a percentage scale, if an associate does not meet a specific requirement for sales they do not receive their commission for all memberships sold -Employees are forbidden to receive massages in the clinic on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - Leaving only three days of the week to practice what we preach -Therapists are expected to sell memberships while preforming the massage. Talk about never letting it rest... All of these pros and cons may differ based on the owner and regional developer in certain areas. Across the board, Massage Envy is more concerned with sales than health and wellness.
