Pros
-Good environment inside the club (Highly depends on the staff in each department and if everyone meshes well). -Free Membership -Can interact and network with so many different people from various backgrounds -Office/Sales job inside of a gym -Good starting job to get into sales, or store management. -A bridge to
Cons
-High Pressure Sales Environment -Base Pay low -Commission and Bonus dependent if you want to make a livable wage -Commissions can be low with not enough volume in most locations to compensate -Commission Threshold that resets at the beginning of every pay period -24/7 Job. Little to no work life balance. Practically expected to be on-call at all times of operation. -Toxic VP’s / upper management -No transparency. Will carrot dangle promotion opportunities to keep you motivated -Upper management rarely will have solutions to problems. Essentially will tell you to “Figure it out”, most of the time -Unethical Sales practices swept under the rug -Constant turnover, mainly due to being underpaid and overworked -Did I mention Work life balance non-existent?!?! -VP’s will play favorites with certain employees -Promotions based on who you know, not what you know/what you’ve done -Care more about sales, than their product. -Banking on the business staying alive because of its name, when in reality it is slowly dying. Equipment always outdated. Members concerns never taken seriously as long as new people continue to join -Will take months, sometimes YEARS for the company to fix facility or equipment damages -Little to no benefits -Having peace of mind HIGHLY depends on the competency and overall vibe of you VP or district manager.
