Toxic, Highly Retaliatory, and Exclusionary - Software Engineer II Dell Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Remote work and solid health care benefits.

Cons

While Dell frequently emphasizes its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the reality is that Black employees in technical roles are often excluded and marginalized. Black women are largely relegated to administrative, sales, and DEI roles, with few opportunities to advance in technical fields. Furthermore, the burden of DEI work should not fall solely on Black employees in non-DEI roles. The culture at Dell often made it difficult for Black employees in technical roles to feel like valued members of the team. Even when we spoke up about our concerns, we were met with hostility and retaliation. Ultimately, the toxic and exclusionary environment at Dell made it impossible for me to feel like I was making a meaningful contribution to the organization. I cannot recommend it as a supportive or inclusive place for Black women software engineers, and until the company takes concrete steps to address its culture of discrimination and harassment and prioritize the well-being of all employees, I urge technical job seekers to look elsewhere for opportunities.

Pros

The people are the best part of this job. I have met so many amazing people in this role. Even some I would consider life long friends. I think the experience gained from this job has also been useful for any sales role you may need for any future endeavors in sales or the tech industry.

Cons

Upper management has made many changes to the compensation and the metrics which has for sure effected employee satisfaction. Turnover rate is insane as there’s a new hire class literally every month. Dell itself is running out of room and they are not making any new teams for the new hire classes which has left more tenured reps in a vulnerable position.
