Okay employer, bad mall

Pros

- Eligible for benefits - Fun coworkers + reasonable supervisors (might depend on department?) - Very good mall environment if you want somewhere to walk or chill during breaks or outside of work - Management is supportive when you communicate needs - Mobility (saw some of my full-time coworkers get promoted due to their hard work)

Cons

- Westfield dictates paid parking for employees, company chooses to not cover costs of parking for part-time employees - Closest "employee" basement parking has sewage pipes running through that may and have burst + no prevention from shoppers parking in the employee-only basement - Extremely busy during weekends + holiday season, overwhelming despite any effort the company can make - Will overschedule you (nearly 40 hrs/week as part-time, even if you mention less in application/interview) unless you clearly communicate how many hours you need to work

Pros

Free food, and many of the people you meet are truly amazing—passionate about their craft and dedicated to sharing Italian culture. Everything is authentically Italian, from the ingredients to the merchandise and in-store restaurants. There’s also room to make an impact and streamline processes if you take initiative. The work you do is critical and genuinely the lifeblood of the entire store.

Cons

Upper management can be very authoritarian and directive, with no support for their teams. The work is physically demanding, and feedback or recognition often goes ignored. There’s a lack of empathy and concern for employees’ wellbeing, which makes it difficult to stay motivated or feel valued.
