Where do I even begin? Working at Deliveroo took a serious toll on my mental health. It is a cut-throat environment rife with blame culture, where everybody is just covering their own skin and will gladly throw you under the bus. Management is toxic, condescending, and does very little. There are numerous cases of managers doing close to nothing. There are no long term career opportunities as promotion is a function of home visibile you are, not how impactful you are or how good a job you do.

Still, one can’t help but wonder how much bigger this could have been without 2 or 3 egos monopolising decisions leading to near-total chaos. No intellectual honesty, zero accountability at the top, heavy top-down management, visionless leadership, credit misappropriation, poor pay, no performance incentives, favouritism and politics run deep, mediocrity dominates above D-level, image valued over substance, chronic understaffing, high attrition, stagnating product, late follower product strategy. Deliveroo has it all. Unsurprisingly, those who work the least are the most rewarded.
