Pros

Good decision making by C level executives to save the company twice in the last 10 years through MOU and the great recession.

Cons

Emphasis on cost saving resulted in large numbers of inexperienced hires. No career advancement without brown nosing. Highly political environment -good old boys club - no good for minority/foreigners.

Worst job experience in my entire life.

Pros

The benefits are on par with the industry, and Capital One does support it's sales people through bonuses and aggressive marketing.

Cons

The transition from Chevy Chase Bank to Capital One Bank was not only ineptly planned and executed, but was a giant step in the wrong direction for both the customers and employees. I have never, ever, dealt with so many dissatisfied customers in my life, or seen so many confused and disgruntled employees. I have three decades of job experience and I can honestly say this is the worst job experience in my life. (Note: my comments apply to the banking side only. The card side, under the leadership of Ryan Schneider, seems to be a well run and positive environment).

Pros

Reasonable compensation. Young and smart co-workers

Cons

1) Dirty office politics. Some co-workers will bad-mouth you behind your back or complain to your manager for tiny little things. Some favored employees are asked by management to keep an eye on you while pretending to be your "friend". Be aware! 2) Inefficient training for employees. 3) Too many employees have such a heavy workload that they work late into the evenings (often more than 45 hours a week) without overtime pay whatsoever. 4) If you're not a business analyst (BA), too bad for you! You may do a lot of the hard work and do get recognized from time to time. But most roles feel like the auxiliary to BA's. If you're not a BA, the company culture will make you feel so Unimportant. Even if you get decent pay, what does it help if they constantly make you feel that you're so Unimportant to the company?
