Pros

The people (depending on what team you're in) you get to work in fashion and be around some really creative minds some perks like free lunches, cheap coffee

Cons

very hard to move up the ladder or get any kind of pay rise or promotion, unless you're willing to play the long game, and even then is it worth it? You can expect: toxic culture, constant gossip, privileged people who pretend they aren't, people excluding others, passive bullying, screaming competitions in meetings, and some other things i can't say on this platform. Senior leadership team & some line managers absolutely do not care about you, and will point you to the door if you cause a fuss or ask for some sort of change in culture. a shame as there are some truly creative, intelligent, amazing people at burberry, but often will be overlooked for someone louder, higher up with worse ideas to be heard instead.

Pros

Half day Fridays in the summer, sample sales, free lunches

Cons

Since the onboarding of the new creative director, literally every team in the company has been effected in a negative way. There is absolutely no collaboration between teams and you are no longer able to do you job to the best of your ability as nothing gets approved. There is no career progression, people will be assistants for many years before even just going to a coordinator and there is minimal support for managers to see you grow. Even on a team level there is minimal communications between managers and more junior staff, information is kept from you and leads you to have no opportunity to learn and grow in your role. Upon leaving i didn't even get an exit interview, never had any HR checkins throughout my 5 years of working for the company.

Pros

Discount on clothes. Good Christmas parties. A strong brand DNA.

Cons

The company doesn't take career progression seriously. Employees are expected to work long hours and there is a lack of a focus on wellbeing and work life balance. As a FTSE 100 company the focus remains on securing profits for share holders. Clashes between creative and corporate teams mean there is a lot of red tape at times. Alot of people are attracted to the company due to its brand power but it doesn't always live up to its external reputation.
