A company in trouble

Pros

Some really good people- just very badly led

Cons

CFO is good at cost counting- and nothing else. A raging ego means nothing gets done if she’s not interested or doesn’t see what it means for her, personally. Regularly puts the her own needs before Burberry’s. Constant feuding with other senior staff especially HR. Total disregard for anything other than headlines- just need to look at esg commitments. All headlines and no plan. She will get found out at some stage but she’ll throw us under the bus first.

Unfair and shameful business practices, only way UP is OUT

Pros

You can get around 40% discount on product, but not to worry your bosses will get 60% off and the top management gets 90% discount. A lot of internal sample sales to get rid of the company’s enormous stock of unsold merchandise as well!

Cons

No room for internal promotions, no change of salaries year after year, embarrassingly low salaries for entry level positions. This does not apply for upper management who go from being directors to senior Vice President titles with a huge change of salary. Different rules for different people : WFH and getting off work at 5:30 pm sharp or earlier for some, for others employees, work everyday at the office even during lockdowns, unpaid weekend and late night working (even after midnight). Illegal work practices rampant in this publicly traded company. Try to flag any dangerous or illegal issues to HR, you will never hear from them.

Pros

Friendly co-workers, multilingual environment, Free fruit and tea, discounts.

Cons

Micromanagement, childish behaviour from senior management. You are treated as a machine - sell sell sell attitude, management is prompting you to even lie to the customer if that makes a profit! You feel totally burned out after a couple of weeks and they have no business plan in place! Nothing luxurious about this brand when you see it from within - stay away!
